Southside Planning District Staff are currently assisting with pre-planning activities for a Commonwealth of Virginia-required Regional Water Supply Plan (RWSP). The RWSP must conform to requirements found in Virginia Code and be completed by October, 2029. The new RWSP must be a regional plan, and each County is required to take part in its planning.

Currently, DEQ funding is being used to research requirements and plan and hold organizational meetings between the three Counties of the District. Future project activities will revolve around writing the RWSP, and the public notification process.
