The Town of Boydton has been awarded a 2010 Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $1,000,000 from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development for housing improvements to 25 residential units within the Hull Street community, of which $550,000 is allocated for Phase I and $450,000 is allocated for Phase II. The proposed project area consists of 43 residential structures located on Hull Street, Carter Lane, Bryant Street, Barnes Street, Jones Street, and portions of Monroe Street, Jefferson Street, Madison Street, and Madison Street Extension. Phase I will address the rehabilitation and/or substantial reconstruction of approximately 17 LMI homes.

Phase II will address the rehabilitation and/or substantial reconstruction of approximately 8 homes and the rehabilitation of 1,108 linear feet of gravity sewer line. Project activities also include neighborhood clean-up and the clearance of debris. The Town is currently in the process of executing a contract with DHCD, and hopes to begin construction on the first round of homes by March 2011.
