The Town of Boydton received a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in the amount of $1,000,000 from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VDHCD) for housing improvements within the Hull Street community in March 2011. The project area includes the homes located on Hull Street, Carter Lane, Bryant Street, Barnes Street, Jones Street, and portions of Monroe Street, Jefferson Street, Madison Street, and Madison Street Extension.

The project was divided into two multi-year projects. Project activities in Multi-Year 1, to be closed out in June 2013, include rehabilitation of eight (8) owner-occupied units, rehabilitation of six (6) investor-owned units and substantial reconstruction of two (2) owner-occupied units.

Project activities in Multi-Year 2, to be closed out in March 2014, will include rehabilitation of one (1) investor-owned unit; substantial reconstruction of one (1) owner-occupied unit; installation of approximately 1,108 linear feet of slip line for existing gravity sewer; installation of approximately 1,126 linear feet of new 4” and 8” gravity line, with manholes, cleanouts and related appurtenances; and clearance of debris, trash, inoperable vehicles and dilapidated structures throughout the neighborhood.
