ABOUT THE SOUTHSIDE PLANNING DISTRICT
The region covered by the Southside Planning District is composed of three large counties on the Virginia - North Carolina border:: Brunswick, Halifax, and Mecklenburg. In addition to being known as Southside, the region is also well known as "Lake Country" due to its proximity to the largest lake in Virginia, Buggs Island Lake (Kerr Reservoir) and Lake Gaston.
